Kamomile (Matricaria chamomilla)

Other names: Kamome, maternjak, kokotnjak, telenak, titrica.

Description of the plant: chamomile is an annual plant with branched stems, height 20 to 50 cm. The leaves are doubly spliced with narrow thread-like leaves. The lower stalk is grooved at the top of the hollow. The flower is conical in shape and hollow inside. The flower has an especially pleasant fragrance.

Flowering time: from June-July.

Habitat: growing on neglected, barren land, fields and along paths.

The medicinal part of the plant: the drug is made in June and July, from collectied flowers and leaves.

Pharmaceutical action: chamomille is one of the best resources for women and children. It is used to treat irritability, hypersensitivity at the facial nerve neuralgia, rheumatism, ischemia, restlessness, insomnia, mental malaise, fatigue and the like. It is useful in all diseases of the stomach and intestines: stomach cramps, inflammation of the colon, diarrhea, intestinal catarrh, catarrh of the stomach, bloating of the stomach, with the excess stomach acid. Usable in treatment of kidneys, liver and gall bladder. Useful with rinsing and coating with compress in cases of eye disease and various skin disorders.
